David runs into a hiccup with his stay-at-home dad responsibilities when he misplaces Janie and must scramble to get her back before Amy finds out.

Emily brings home a boy she’d like to date for her parents’ approval and he and David unexpectedly hit it off. Elsewhere, Joe and Janie compete to ask David the best question at a Q&A panel for his old sitcom.

When David and Amy learn Emily is an extra in the school play, they secure her a bigger role even though her performance isn’t up to par and they don’t know she’s disinterested in acting all together.

While observing the many different parenting styles of the moms at a playgroup for Janie, David realizes he needs to find a technique of his own. He tries out different styles on the kids until they finally stage an intervention

Amy is distressed by an old recliner David brings home from the set of his show, especially when a rat scurries out from under it. After receiving an overpriced estimate from an exterminator, David decides to handle it himself.

Marcus asks David to help him recruit Ricky, the young actor who played David’s TV son, to star in Marcus’s next project. When David botches the deal due to Ricky’s new ego, he must figure out a way to smooth things over.

A stalking paparazzi captures a few innocent photos of David but manipulates them to make him look like a horrible Dad. Meanwhile, Amy feigns indifference when the paparazzi don’t recognize her.

The Hobbs family must take care of Kevin when he injures himself, but Kevin feels like a burden to them and takes off. They eventually find him, learning much more about Kevin in the process and are inspired to help him.

When Amy learns about David’s first wedding, she’s jealous of the exotic affair compared to their quickie-ceremony so David and the kids set out to give her the wedding she deserves.

When Amy has to work on Christmas Eve, David promises to take care of everything but the stress of making the holiday perfect for the kids gets to him and he temporarily loses track of what Christmas is really about.

When Joe wants to participate in his school’s father/son history bowl competition, David realizes he doesn’t know anything on the subject and learns he never actually passed history in school.

When David discovers that Emily is running for class president against the son of his long-time rival, he embeds himself in her campaign but Amy and Emily surprise him by leaning on superstar Ricky Adams to help her win the race.

When Amy has to work the weekend Emily and Mary are getting ready for Prom, dress shopping duties fall on David and Marcus, who let things spiral out of control. Now the guys must find a way to give the girls a Prom to remember.

David decides to take the family on an impromptu trip, but with Amy meeting them at the airport, he’s got six hours to pack the bags and get the kids there without incident. What could possibly go wrong?

When Joe gets invited out by his lab partner Amanda, he turns to David for advice on how to say no. But when David learns her dad is his golf hero, his own man-crush takes over and he forgets about helping Joe with his.

David inadvertently encourages Joe’s favorite teacher to follow his dream of writing, but when David discovers he doesn’t cut it as a “beat poetry” substitute, he must find a way to get the teacher back or risk disappointing Joe.

David’s nemesis, Ted McGinley, has a new reality show and challenges the Hobbs to let him and his family live with them for three days. Meanwhile, Marcus and Kevin get locked in the soundproof basement.

Joe’s in the spotlight after a heroic action, but finds it hard to go back to being regular Joe when his 15 minutes of fame end so David tries to show him being “normal” can be fun. Janie discovers what Emily’s been hiding.

Janie’s birthday venue cancels last minute and David becomes party planner. To top Janie’s friend Charlotte’s amazing party, David plans a birthday bash complete with a famous monkey, Guest Star.

David and Janie audition for a commercial, and Janie wins the role, but David lacks “dad chemistry.” Now he must prove he’s the best dad for Janie offscreen and on. Meanwhile, Emily tries spontaneity to win over a new friend.

David takes Emily out driving, but his “coaching” makes her nervous, and he insists Emily’s not ready for the responsibility. Later, Janie discovers Dr. Monkey Chunks was run over in the driveway, and now everyone is a suspect.

David’s booked to guest on a popular talk show, but when a virus sweeps the family, he has to fight to stay healthy. During the show, the host falls ill with the same bug, and David finds himself painfully hosting alone.

David decides the family needs to purge so he can finally have his office. But when a few boxes of See Dad Run memorabilia are accidentally donated and bought by his craziest fan, the family goes to extremes to get them back.

Hoping to bond with Joe, David decides to help him build a treehouse, but he isn't quite the craftsman he thinks he is and things get out of hand. Meanwhile, Emily gets her first job on Amy’s set, but causes chaos of her own.

David lets Joe play hooky to help with his stress, but Joe feels guilty and reveals the truth, causing Joe AND David to get detention. Amy and Emily set up a sting to find out which neighbor isn’t picking up after their dog.

David’s TV dad Bernie visits, but the reunion sours when he runs off and leaves his new baby. David must convince Bernie that being a real dad will be his best role. Parenting a fake baby for class is more than Emily can handle.

David hopes to get the kids in the Halloween spirit, so he takes them with him to “exorcise” the Ghost of Stage 19. The kids aren’t impressed until crazy things start happening at home, and the whole family is freaked out.

For his school career day video, Joe features David in his new habitat as stay-at-home dad, but the montage makes David believe life is dull since quitting TV, so the family must rally to show him how much his new job matters.

When a girl gives Emily a hard time about not having a date to the school dance, David sends her flowers but the note gets lost and she thinks she has a secret admirer forcing David to come up with a plan.

David picks Janie up from dance and sees that she’s awful but enthusiastic! So he does what any dad would: tells her how to make it to the top – nearly causing a classmate injury. Amy’s job is a bad influence on Emily’s friends.

Joe is worried there is a family curse on the Hobbs men for Valentine’s Day, as he prepares for his date with Amanda. Meanwhile, Amy mistakes a necklace that David was hiding for Marcus as her gift.

David has a hard time leaving Janie at school and becomes room mom. When he realizes how much work it is, he causes mayhem to get out of it. Meanwhile, Joe runs away from a scary older student on his first day of 7th grade.

Emily takes Amy’s car to a party with Marcus’ nephew after she was forbidden from driving at night, and must race back to beat David home. Joe wants more responsibility so asks to babysit Janie. Guest Star: Larramie Doc Shaw.

David gets Emily an internship at a news show, and she loves it so much she considers dropping out of school. Meanwhile, Joe and his friends prepare for their talent show performance. Guest Star: Nicole Sullivan.

When Janie refuses to follow David’s rules, she runs away to Marcus’ house and David tries everything to get her to come back home. Meanwhile, Emily tries to take advantage of Joe to get close to his new older friend.

David’s former co-star who he fired from the show becomes Joe’s slightly unhinged Spanish tutor. When Joe’s grades suffer, David gets her a job on Amy’s soap opera, where things go from bad to worse.

David gets in over his head when he challenges a wrestler to a televised event in order to impress Joe and his friends. Meanwhile, Janie is in trouble at school for copying Emily.

David finally impresses his father-in-law "The Major" by serving on jury duty, while the kids all have to go through The Major's boot camp. Guest Star: Lee Majors.

Emily is forced to participate in a beauty pageant in order to please Amy’s boss.

David tries to teach Joe a lesson about finishing things, and agrees to jump out of a plane if Joe can finish a project. Meanwhile, Janie tries to wean herself off of Dr. Monkey Chunks as Emily reconnects with her old doll.

Janie invites David’s mom and Amy’s dad to grandparents’ day at her school. When David demands that they stop fighting and get along, he is horrified that his plan worked better than he expected.

Janie is worried that she is going to be given away when David starts acting differently around her. Joe and Amy get trapped in an elevator with Joe’s hero.

After a series of incidents goes wrong on his watch, David wonders if he should have stopped acting. With help from a guardian angel, he gets a glimpse of what his family would be like if See Dad Run never went off the air.

David decides he can have it all, and brings the family with him to shoot Marcus' movie in New York. He quickly becomes stretched too thin, and has to make a choice about what is most important to him.
